"Chandra is an extraordinarily talented musician who never ceases to learn new techniques. He had been with us from the beginning and he is one of the most friendly people I have met in my life. His musical creations are truly inspirational and amazing, yet he stays so humble about his abilities. No one ever rises alone, we all grow with the support of each other. The same goes for me, and that’s why I want to give back to the community, to fellow game audio enthusiasts. I truly hope you’ll do the same.

I captured an ambience impulse response in a small gift store using a 15-second sweep tone, and I’m sharing this IR sample for free.

Sharing these footstep layers for free — I recorded them myself and did some light curation.

About

I’m Chandra Oyuget Cheung, founder of Oyuget Soundworks, a music composer and sound designer from Indonesia.I’ve been creating audio for games since 2014, a journey that began from self-taught passion and endless curiosity about how sound could move people. Over time, I’ve developed my own way of blending orchestral emotion with modern electronic and rock influences, crafting music that feels alive and cinematic.I play piano, guitar, electric guitar, dizi flute, and violin, not as a performer, but as instruments of expression that help me capture feeling and nuance. For me, good audio and good music are only the beginning. I always aim for something deeper, to enter the player’s emotion and make them feel, without ever discrediting the craft behind good sound.

Early Life

My love for games began in the Nintendo era, spending days with Mario Bros, Double Dragon, and Contra, where the sounds were simple yet unforgettable. As I grew, those pixels and melodies evolved into deeper worlds, the PlayStation era of Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, X, and Suikoden II, where I first felt how music could carry the soul of a story. The works of Nobuo Uematsu and Miki Higashino left a lasting mark on me, shaping how I listen and feel music in games. I also grew through the Warcraft I & II, Supaplex, and Transport Tycoon eras, each teaching me something about atmosphere, timing, and emotional pacing. As years went by, my influences expanded into the cinematic world, John Williams, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and the emotional subtleties of Joe Hisaishi and Ryuichi Sakamoto, whose tonal fluctuations and color projection deeply inspire my compositions today. There are far more names and works that have shaped my journey, but it’s simply impossible to fit them all in this small space. Each left their own imprint, guiding how I see, feel, and write music for the worlds I create.

My PassionIn the world of video games, there exists an unseen energy, one that breathes life into every story.
Lately, I’ve been delving deeper into how music can paint emotions with colour, shaping feeling not by convention, but through beauty, intention, and meaning behind every note.
Too often, game soundtracks lean on the predictable, woodwinds to signal something medieval or ethnic, deep bass to drive intensity, or simple harmonies to fill the silence. To me, those choices can feel too familiar, almost mechanical. What moves me is the unexpected: when a single piano phrase can tell an entire story, or when that same spark blossoms into a grand orchestration, vast, expressive, and profoundly alive. That’s where I find the true soul of music in games.
